Inland nursing school announces transfer agreement

Loma Linda University’s School of Nursing has reached its first transfer arrangement with a public college.

The agreement, announced Tuesday, provides qualified students from Mt. San Jacinto College “seamless access” into the nursing school, where they can earn a bachelor of science degree in nursing, according to a statement.

Mt. San Jacinto students who earn an associate degree in nursing and then get a registered nurse license will be able to transfer to Loma Linda’s nursing school.

Also, a set number of clinical rotations will be guaranteed to Mt. San Jacinto students at Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta. Officials hope that will keep local students working in the Inland region, which has a large demand for nurses with bachelor’s degrees, according to the statement.

“This is a landmark agreement for Mt. San Jacinto College, Loma Linda Medical Center-Murrieta, [the nursing school] and our students,” said Roger Schultz, superintendent and president of Mt. San Jacinto College, in the statement. “We are honored that the School of Nursing chose us as a public partner to help further the goals  of our students.”
