Ontario International Airport is expecting a solid increase in passenger traffic during the upcoming holiday travel season, according to a forecast.
Close to 183,000 air travelers are expected to use the airport during the Thanksgiving season, which started Friday and lasting through Dec. 2, the Ontario International Airport Authority predicted.
If that forecast holds true it will be a 12.3 percent increase compared with the 2018 Thanksgiving season.
As for Christmas travel, which starts Dec. 19 and lasts through Jan. 5, the authority is predicting more than 291,000 passengers, which would be a 13 percent increase compared with 2018.
“We work closely with airlines, concessionaires and other business partners to ensure that our customers have positive travel experiences, particularly at this time of year when the airport experience often sets the tone for holiday festivities,” said Mark Thorpe, the authority’s chief executive officer, in the statement.
