Starting this week, Moreno Valley will give away 175,000 masks to help residents battle COVID-19.
Masks are available at participating grocery stores and will be distributed by the police, fire, code enforcement, and park ranger officials at some city events, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Masks were obtained from the U.S. Conference of Mayors, government agencies, local businesses, and other organizations.
“I am glad that we can provide these free face coverings to residents through this program,” said Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez in the statement. “Proper hand washing, physical distancing, and covering the face can significantly decrease our risk of infection.”
The “We’ve Got You Covered” program was created in partnership with Riverside County’s “Masks are Medicine,” which distributed masks in Riverside County.
