Amazon opens Beaumont facility

Amazon’s fulfillment center in Beaumont is up and running.

The 640,000-square-foot facility near Interstate 10 and the 60 Freeway officially welcomed workers Sunday to mark its first day of operation, according to a statement.

Following some safety training, workers received the building’s first shipment: a box of Keurig K-Cup pods.

“It’s an exciting day as we officially open our doors at our new fulfillment center in Beaumont,” Amazon Beaumont General Manager Prateek Dahiya said in the statement. “We have an incredible staff on board, and we’re excited to be offering industry leading jobs with comprehensive benefits.”

The fulfillment center employs more than 1,000 full-time associates. They will manage small items, including books, electronics, school supplies, and home goods.

“We are pleased to officially welcome Amazon to the Beaumont community,” Beaumont City Manager, Todd Parton said in the statement. “The opening of this cutting-edge facility solidifies Beaumont as a pivotal location within the Inland Empire for international trade and commerce.”

During the past 10 years, Amazon has created more than 91,000 jobs in California and invested more than $50 billion statewide, according to the statement.
