The Riverside University Health System has received a $625,000 grant from the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development that it will use to increase its primary care.
The grant will allow the health system to train more residents on campus and provide them with more resources, according to a statement on Riverside County’s website.
“We are so honored to receive this grant from OSHPD,” said Parastou Farhadian, the health system’s director of family medicine resident program, in the statement.
“It is important now, more than ever, that we continue to expand access to our most vulnerable community members through enhanced primary care training for students, who will then be leaders in our community that help shape and grow overall well-being of our community families.”
The grant was part of health planning and development’s pledge of $35 million to 86 primary care residency programs in California. The money will be used to expand primary care access to underserved state residents, according to the statement.
