Murphey to run Inland tribe’s Las Vegas casino

Cynthia Kiser Murphey has been named general manager of the Palms Casino Resort, a shuttered facility in Las Vegas that the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is trying to buy.
Murphey, the former president, and chief operating officer of New York-New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, will take over once the purchase is complete, according to San Manuel.

The San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority is negotiating that transaction with Las Vegas-based Red Rock Resorts Inc., owner of the Palms.

The sale is expected to be completed later this year. The Palms has been closed for about one year.

“I am humbled to be chosen to lead this exciting endeavor, as the SMGHA becomes the first Native American owner and operator of a Las Vegas casino,” Murphey said in a statement. “The Palms is an iconic property with a rich connection to the community.”

Murphey also worked for MGM Resorts International from 1992-2008 in its human resources department.

The San Manuel tribe is based near Highland.
