Norco appoints city manager

Lori Sassoon has been appointed Norco’s city manager.

Sassoon, Rancho Cucamonga’s deputy city manager of administrative services for the past 10 years, has been formally named to the city’s top non-elected administrative post during Wednesday’s regular council meeting, according to a statement on the city’s website.

She will start work Aug. 29.

“Ms. Sassoon is a highly respected and accomplished government professional,” Mayor Greg Norton said, “The Norco city council has full confidence in her ability to lead our organization as we embrace challenges and pursue opportunities to better our community.”

Before going to work for Rancho Cucamonga, Sassoon was Villa Park’s city manager, and before that San Bernardino’s assistant city manager.

She will succeed Andy Okoro, who announce his retirement in March after serving as city manager for nine years. Okoro originally planned to retire in June but agreed to stay on for two more months, according to the statement.
