Ontario International Airport will name its planned international terminal after U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
The airport’s board of commissioners on Thursday voted unanimously to name the current federal inspection station and future terminal the Dianne Feinstein International Terminal, according to a statement on the airport’s website.
The San Francisco Democrat is being honored for her efforts to bring the airport under local ownership, which happened in November 2016.
“We are honored to dedicate the current and future international facilities to Sen. Feinstein, whose years of support and advocacy were so critical in Ontario International’s return to local ownership,” said Alan D. Wapner, board president, in the statement. “She understood the importance of this airport, not only to this community, but to air travel across Southern California and beyond.”
Plans for the Dianne Feinstein International Terminal are being developed, according to the statement.
