Bed, Bath & Beyond to close more stores

Bed, Bath & Beyond is shutting down 87 more stores nationwide, including locations in Upland and Palm Desert, the company announced Tuesday.

The retailer did not release a timeline for the closings, which are spread across 30 states and include five more California stores, according to multiple reports.

The Upland location is at 1865 North Campus Ave. in the Colonies Crossroads shopping center. The Palm Desert store is at 72459 Highway 111.

Founded in 1971, the New Jersey-based chain sells home decor items and has stores in Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. It was once a Fortune 500 company but now appears to be on the verge of bankruptcy.

Bed, Bath & Beyond also announced that it will shutter five buy Baby stores and all of its Harmon beauty stores, the reports stated.

In August, after obtaining $500 million in the financing, the company announced it would close 150 stores and reduce its workforce by 20 percent.
