Oliveros named RCC president

Claire Oliveros has been named president of Riverside City College.

Currently the vice president of Institutional Equity & Research and Planning at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, Oliveros has worked in higher education for 28 years, according to a statement on the school’s website.

She is scheduled to take office July 10, and will receive a yearly salary of $275,919.

“The board of trustees is excited to have attracted such a quality candidate as [Ms.] Oliveros,” said Bill Hedrick, board president, in the statement.

“As the district continues to work to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, it was important to secure a leader who understands the critical role our colleges play in moving the economic needle for the region.”

Oliveros was also assistant provost for Student Success Initiatives at Virginia Tech and executive dean of Student Development and Learning Resources at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Ore., according to the statement.
