Kathy Allavie has been named the recipient of the 2023 Frank Miller Community Achievement Award.
The award, presented by the Mission Inn Foundation, acknowledges “individuals, couples or groups who have made significant contributions to the city and community of Riverside,” according to a statement on the foundation’s website.
A fourth-generation Riverside resident, Allavie is being recognized for her longtime support of the city’s art and education programs.
During her 17 years on the Riverside Unified School District board, Allevie helped make the district one of the top-scoring STEM [science, technology, engineering, mathematics] districts in the region, while also being a “staunch advocate” for the arts, according to the statement.
“[Allavie] follows a path of civic engagement that her family began generations ago,” the statement reads. “She never tires of giving back to her community.”.
Alllavie will receive the award on Nov. 9 during a dinner at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium.
