Fontana has received nearly $20 million in federal funds that will pay for infrastructure improvements along Foothill Boulevard.
The grant, from the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will finance bicycle lanes, sidewalks and ramps that comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act and updated signs to protect motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists, according to a statement.
The Foothill Boulevard Safety Improvements project will also improve public transit in the Inland Empire by paying for four public bus stops that will connect passengers to neighboring cities, county services and a Metrolink station.
It will also take people to and from Ontario International Airport, Cal State San Bernardino, Chaffey College and other destinations.
The funding was arranged by Rep. Norman, Torres, D-Ontario, and Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-San Bernardino.
