Cal State San Bernardino will break ground next month on the building that will be home to its Master of Science in Physician Assistant (MSPA) program.
The 27-month program will operate out of the renovated Yasuda Center for Extended Learning, a 15,600 square-foot building on the west end of the campus.
Renovation, which includes construction of a 2,500 square-foot addition, began last month and is expected to be completed next spring. When finished it will include classroom, laboratory and clinical space that will support up to 50 students.
State Sen. Richard Roth (D-Riverside), who has obtained more than $16 million to support the program, will attend the groundbreaking.
“We are extremely grateful to Senator Roth for the vital role he has played in making the MSPA program a reality,” said Tomás D. Morales, president of Cal State San Bernardino, in the statement.
The project also received $2 million from the U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. on April 26. All members of the university community are invited.
