Two Inland schools recognized for their online classes

Two Inland Empire community colleges have been ranked among the best online colleges in the United States by an online publication.

Mt. San Jacinto College ranked 125th and Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga ranked 180th, according Newsweek magazine.

The list, which includes four-year universities, includes 250 institutions of higher learning. No other college or university in the Inland region made the list.

”This acknowledgment validates our focus on delivering high-quality online education that meets the needs of today’s diverse student body,” said Roger Schultz, Mt. San Jacinto’s superintendent and president, in the statement. “With 60 percent of our students learning online, we are proud to be at the forefront of online learning innovation.”

The magazine’s rankings are based on surveys of more than 10,000 individuals who have taken courses to get an academic degree or job-related knowledge and skills, according to the statement.
