Passenger and cargo volume at Ontario International Airport rose slightly in August, according to data released Sept. 18.
The airport accommodated 646,820 passengers last August, an increase of 0.5 percent from August 2014, while handling more than 69,000 tons of cargo, a one percent increase during that time, the airport authority reported.
Those numbers represent year-over-year gains of 54 and 14 consecutive months, respectively.
Last month’s passenger count included 592,870 domestic and 53,950 international travelers, a 53.7 percent increase in the international category. The airport’s international passenger count has gone up since flights to Mexico and Taiwan were added early this summer.
Southwest Airlines (34.2 percent passenger share), American Airlines (14.9 percent), Frontier Airlines (10.6 percent), United Airlines (10.2 percent), and Delta Airlines (9.9 percent) were Ontario International’s busiest carriers last month, according to the authority.
