Riverside joins toy drive

The Riverside Fire Department has partnered with ABC7 television station and firefighters throughout Southern California in the “Spark of Love” Toy Drive.

The annual campaign collects new unwrapped toys, sports equipment, blankets and gift cards for underserved children and teens up to 17 years old, according to a statement on Riverside’s website.

Items will be collected through Dec. 12 in Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties.

Donations can be made between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. at any Riverside fire station or at any of the city’s community centers. For community center locations visit: riversideca.gov/park_rec/community-centers.

Donations are not to be made after hours.

The Spark of Love Toy Drive has collected more than nine million toys during the past 30 years, according to the statement.
