Two projects being undertaken by the Inland Empire Utilities Agency have received a combined $2.2 million from the federal government.
The Community Projects: Cybersecurity Program Improvement received $1.18 million, and the Chino Basin Advanced Water Purification Demonstration Facility was awarded $1.09 million, accord to a statement released by the agency.
Those bills, signed into law recently by President Trump, were sponsored by Sen. Adam Schiff and Rep. Norma Torres, D-Ontario, respectively.
The cybersecurity program will improve the agency’s ability to respond to and recover from, – cyber security incidents. The water purification facility will be a center for innovation, education, and research in advanced water treatment.
“These investments will better position us to prepare for future challenges while we continue to deliver safe, reliable services,” said Steve Elie, the agency’s board president, in the statement. “These funds will help ensure our region remains a leader in innovation and resource stewardship.”
