Electric vehicle manufacturer delivers first shipment to Riverside

Voltu Motor Inc., the electric vehicle manufacturer, has delivered its first shipment of pickup trucks to its new Riverside headquarters.

Voltu is expected to generate approximately 400 manufacturing, engineering, operations, and technology jobs during the next four years, according to a statement on the city’s website.

At capacity, Voltu Forge One – Riverside is expected to manufacture approximately 14,000 heavy-duty electric trucks, which will establish Riverside as a center for advanced transportation manufacturing.

“This marks more than the start of production,” said George Gebhart, chief executive office of Voltu Motor Inc., in the statement. “It marks the beginning of a new chapter for heavy-duty transportation. The Voltu is now being manufactured, deployed, and put to work by customers who need uncompromising performance.

“The City of Riverside, which welcomed and supported our vision from the beginning, is now our first customer.”

The delivery was made June 9.

Voltu is a zero-emission, heavy-duty pickup truck designed for commercial use, including utilities, municipalities, service fleets, private operators, and energy companies, according to the statement.
