Matthew Markin has been named Cal State San Bernardino’s Outstanding Professional Academic Advisor Award for 2026.
A two-time alumnus of the university, Markin is an advisor in the Academic Success and Undergraduate Advising Office, according to a statement on the university’s website.
Sponsored by the ASUA, the award recognizes advisors who “go above and beyond” in their efforts to help students earn their degrees.
“I am honored by this recognition, especially knowing that this was based on student voices,” Markin said in the statement. “This award shows that advising is not about picking classes, it’s about building positive relationships, helping students navigate their college journeys, and achieving their goals.”
The selection process was reviewed by a group of CSUSB administrators, staff, faculty and students, according to the statement.
