Albert J. Maldonado is San Bernardino’s new city attorney.
A partner with Best Best & Krieger, Maldonado was approved unanimously by the mayor and city council during the July 15 city council meeting, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Maldonado has been San Bernardino’s deputy city attorney since March 2020. During that time he has provided legal counsel to cities, special districts, and planning commissions throughout Southern California.
“Albert Maldonado has demonstrated a deep understanding of San Bernardino,” said Mayor Helen Tran in the statement. “His municipal law experience, leadership style, and commitment to public service make him an excellent choice to serve as our city attorney.”
Maldonado will be provide legal counsel to the mayor, city council, and city manager, while overseeing the legal services that support city operations, according to the statement.
