ONT program speed up security check line

Two years after it started, a program that shortens the wait time at Ontario International Airport’s security-check lines is having some success.

Participation in TSA PreCheck has gone from 13 percent to 26 percent since the airport installed Trusted Traveler Program enrollment kiosks in both terminals, according to a statement on the airport’s website.

During some busy travel periods, as many as half the passengers in Terminal 4 have used the program.

SA PreCheck provides faster screening time for eligible travelers. Nationwide, nearly 100 percent of program members have reported waiting 10 minutes or less at a securing checkpoint.

“We’re fortunate to have an outstanding partnership with the Transportation Security Administration, (with) a shared vision of providing a safe, secure and seamless passenger experience,” said Atif Elkadi, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in a statement. “TSA PreCheck enables travelers to experience the improvements to their fullest.”

Ontario International also offers a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Global Entry Enrollment Center, one of only six in California, according to the statement.
