Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national, regional and local current events, as well as trends in the local real estate market. Ed delivers intelligent radio with unique, witty and irreverent flair.
This week, Ed welcomes back Scott Mcafee of Don’s Bicycles in Redlands and Rialto, who is an enthusiastic follower of politics and government. Ed and Scott will examine the national and state election results, and analyze the potential changes that may come about now that the balance of power in Congress has shifted to the Republicans. “It’s a wonderful week,” Ed remarks. “The country made a statement on Tuesday. People are waking up in this country.” Referring to the state’s rejection of Republican candidate Neel Kashkari while embracing the criminal-friendly Prop. 47, he concludes that people are waking up “everywhere but California.” Ed and Scott will discuss whether the new Senate majority can or will affect some of the most pressing issues facing our nation, including:
The Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. Obamacare
Investigations into the Benghazi, Libya attack of 9/11/12
The IRS and its targeting of conservative voters
Policies related to the Ebola virus
At the top of the show, Ed and Scott will address just how the Republicans managed to gain eight Senate seats last Tuesday. They conclude that the Republican wave is connected to voters realizing their own lives are being affected by bad Democrat policies – despite what they hear from the media and popular culture. “The liberals control Hollywood, the media and academia – three very important forces,” Scott says. “But after a while, when you start to talk to other people, you realize what the real truth is about what’s going on out there. That’s one thing that changes the hearts, minds and votes of people – when they see how much more they’re paying for insurance, and how much more they’re giving up of their paychecks.”
Ed remarks that now that voters are losing their jobs, being canceled by their health insurance carriers and seeing their 401(k) plans slashed in half, they realize that what’s being communicated by the media is not necessarily accurate when it comes to job numbers, the stock market and other economic factors. This correlates with what Ed has been saying for the past several months: People need to be informed. “You live in the world you create for yourself,” Ed says. Tune in to hear thoughts on low information voters, who Ed and Scott agree should not be voting at all.
