A company that makes video translation/interpretation services for people who are hard of hearing will not have to hold a second union election at its Corona facility.
The second election was suspended after a federal judge ruled that Purple Communications was not in serious violation of labor laws, according to a report originally published in The Press-Enterprise.
Purple Communications, which operates 15 calls centers in the United States, held elections late last year to determine if its employees wanted to join the Communications Workers of America.
Its Corona workers voted 16-10 not to join the union. Union officials immediately charged that managers made comments to workers before the election that could have negatively influenced them, a claim the federal court rejected.
A second election will be held at Purple Communications’ Long Beach facility, which had previously decided by a single vote not to join the union, according to the report.
