Charity Golf Tournament Helps Local Police

Stater Bros. Charities has donated $50,000 to the San Bernardino Police Department.

The money, which was raised at the 9th Annual Stater Bros. Charities Dave Stockton Heroes Challenge Golf Tournament, will be used expand the department’s community outreach programs, according to a statement.

The supermarket chain’s charitable organization also honored San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan and the department’s first responders with the Capt. Leland F. Norton Award for their bravery and heroism in connection with the Dec. 2 terrorist shootings at the Inland Regional Center.

The award and $50,000 donation were presented earlier this month at a banquet at the Riverside Convention Center.

The tournament, which was held early this month at the Riverside Country Club, raised $175,000 for local charities and other entities.
