Palm Springs will hold a special meeting to discuss a proposed bridge that would cross the Tahquitz Creek Channel on South Palm Canyon Drive.
The meeting, which is being held in partnership with the Coachella Valley Association of Governments, Caltrans and the Federal Highway Administration, is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Palm Springs Presbyterian Church, 815 S. Camino Real, according to a statement.
The Palm Canyon/Sunny Dunes Bridge will replace the existing bridge that was built in 1930 and rebuilt in 1956. The city’s engineering department has received $5 million in federal funds from Caltrans, through the Highway Bridge program, to design and build a replacement.
Depictions of the new bridge, which will be widened to comply with modern standards, will be available for viewing. Members of the project’s design team will also be present to answer questions, according to the statement.
