CMC to host business conference

Claremont McKenna College will host “Inland Empire Vision:Trends and Challenges,” a one-day presentation of economic forecasts and policy analysis for local businessmen and policy makers scheduled to be held next month.

Professor Manfred Keil will present an economic forecast for Riverside and San Bernardino counties, followed by the introduction of a consumer sentiment index for the two-county region, according to a statement.

The index will be similar to one Claremont McKenna College compiles for Los Angeles County. That data is published quarterly by the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Greg Devereaux, former chief executive of San Bernardino County and one-time city manager in Ontario and Fontana, will deliver the keynote address.

The conference will also feature a discussion on what impact recent state-mandated minimum wage hikes are having on businesses.

The program is scheduled to held March 27 at Roberts Pavilion, 690 N. Mills Ave. A breakfast buffet and networking gathering will begin at 7 a.m., followed by the formal program, which will run from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
