Amazon announces job cuts

Amazon plans to eliminate 3,339 jobs at its Southern California retail stores starting in April.

One week after the retail giants announced it will close all of its Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go stores, the company revealed the layoffs that are expected to begin in late April, according to multiple reports.

The job losses, more than 700 of which will happen in Riverside and San Bernardino counties, are expected to be permanent. They will reportedly include cashiers, managers, a loss prevention specialist, and food production associates.

Also last week, Amazon announced it will cut about 16,000 corporate jobs, its second major round of layoffs in three months. It also said that some its Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go stores will be converted into Whole Foods Markets locations, according to reports.
