Harry Barrett Jr., executive director of Palm Springs International Airport, has been named airport executive of the year by the Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives.
The award “recognizes an airport leader who demonstrates courage, innovation, and measurable impact on their airport, community, and the aviation industry,” according to a statement on Palm Springs’ website.
Since joining the airport in 2000, Barrett has overseen improvements to the airport’s baggage system and been in charge of several major infrastructure projects, including a $36 million expansion of the ticket lobby and the Traffic Safety Administration’s facilities.
Barrett has held several leadership positions at Palm Springs International, including deputy director of operations and maintenance, and assistant airport director, according to the statement.
