Christopher Kirby has been appointed Barstow’s police chief.
Kirby has worked in law enforcement for more than 25 years and has held multiple positions within the Barstow Police Department, including captain, lieutenant, and SWAT commander, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Most recently, Kirby was a special agent for BNSF Railway, where he was responsible for crime prevention, safety enforcement, and emergency response across various transportation networks.
“Chris Kirby has dedicated his life to protecting and serving the Barstow community,” said Rochelle Clayton, Barstow city manager, in the statement. “His understanding of our city’s public safety needs, along and his commitment to transparency and professionalism, makes him the ideal leader to guide the police department into the future.”
