Chaffey College tech center receives grant

Chaffey College Industrial Technical Learning Center has received $250,000 it will use to pay for classroom equipment and other essentials.

The grant from Hillwood Investment Properties was made on behalf of the Speedway Commerce Center, a 6.6 million square-foot industrial park on the former site of the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

The commerce center is a joint development between Hillwood Investment and CBRE Investment Management.

Officials from Hillwood Investment presented the donation to Chaffey College representatives July 15.

“This gift is just one example of Hillwood’s commitment to the Inland Empire,” said Lisa Bailey, Chaffey College’s associate superintendent of business services, in the statement. “The development of the Speedway Commerce Center right next door is another powerful demonstration of your investment in the economic vitality of the region.”

The grant will help students pay for transportation and classroom equipment. It will assist with food, housing and finding tutors, according to the statement.
