Kenneth Chapa has been named San Bernardino’s economic development director.
Chapa, who started work July 15, has more than 20 years experience in economic development and tourism, according to a statement on the city’s website.
For the past four years, Chapa has been director of economic development and tourism in Avondale, Ariz.
“Ken Chapa has a distinguished background in economic development and tourism,” said Rochelle Clayton, acting city manager, in the statement. “We are thrilled to have him aboard and look forward to him hitting the ground running.”
San Bernardino’s economic development department was recently separated from its community development department, and is now an individual entity that includes real estate services, according to the statement.
