Crime-ridden Riverside motel gets receiver

A court-ordered receiver will take control of a Riverside motel that has been overrun by crime and plagued by code violations.

The third-party will manage and rehabilitate the Riverside Inn & Suites at 10705 Magnolia Ave. while the city looks for a long-term solution to the property, according to a statement on Riverside’s website.

“This property is well-known to law enforcement on the west end of our city,” said Council Member Jim Perry in the statement. “I am gratified to see two years of work result in the granting of a receivership that will begin turning this property around.”

People living at the Riverside Inn have been found on probation, on post-release community supervision, have outstanding felony warrants and have had histories of drug abuse.

Code violations have also been ignored, including building and safety violations, structural maintenance, substandard conditions, and construction without proper permits, according to the statement.
