Disney’s ice skating extravaganza is returning to the Inland Empire.
Disney On Ice Celebrates 100 Years of Magic features 65 Disney characters from 18 Disney stories. It opens a five-day run Wednesday at Citizens Business Bank Arena, 4000 Ontario Center Parkway, Ontario.
Mickey and Minnie Mouse will lead the way, sharing the ice with Goofy and Donald Duck, Chip & Dale, Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket, among others.
Moments from Aladdin, Mulan, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and Toy Story will be recreated during the two-hour show.
“Disney On Ice has been performing twice a year at Citizens Business Bank Arena -during the spring and again during the holidays – since the facility opened in 2009, and it never fails to attract a crowd, said Sue Oxarart, the arena’s marketing director.
“It’s one of the most lavish and spectacular ice shows out there, and with Mickey and Minnie Mouse out front you can’t go wrong,” Oxarart said. “It’s one of our family-themed attractions, and it’s always well attended.”
The show is choreographed by Sarah Kawahara, a Canadian-born figure skater who won an Emmy for a 1997 television special she worked on starring Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton. Kawahara has also worked with two-time Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan, and she choreographed the skating segment of the opening ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Disney On Ice is produced by Feld Entertainment in Vienna, Va. Feld specializes in family-themed touring shows, and its productions entertain more than 30 million people a year, according to the company’s website.
Ticket prices range from $22 to $65 and may be purchased online at www.axs.com, by phone at (888) 9AXS-TIX or at the arena box office.
