Eastvale lands electric vehicle service center

A maker of electric vehicles has opened a service center in Eastvale.

Rivian recently began operating the facility in a 77,000-square-foot industrial building at 14940 Limonite Ave., according to a statement on the city’s website.

Several dozen employees work at the center in multiple departments, including vehicle operations, vehicle service, and delivery and mobile operations. The Irvine-based company is trying to expand its presence in the greater Los Angeles market.

“We are thrilled that Rivian has decided to open a service center in the city of Eastvale,” said Mayor Christian Dinco in the statement. “Their focus on innovation and beautiful design makes them the perfect fit for our city.”

Founded in 2009, Rivian produces the all-electric Rivian R1T pickup and R1S SUV, along with a custom electric delivery van for Amazon, at its manufacturing plant in Normal, Ill.

Rivian operates more than 40 service centers. Its facility at Limonite Avenue and the Cucamonga Creek Channel will also be a pickup location for R1 vehicles, according to the statement.
