Eastvale seeks federal help for projects

Eastvale is asking for federal funding to help it develop a civic center, library and police station.

The city is seeking $28 million from the Congressional Directed Spending and Community Project for those projects, which provides money annually for projects that enhance quality of life, according to a statement on Eastvale’s website.

The civic center would receive $16 million, the library and police station $6 million each.

Eastvale is also asking $750,000 for the Citrus Reimagined project, which would convert property across from Eastvale High School into community uses, and $550,000 for a public safety enhancement program.

The city submitted its requests through the offices of Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Corona, Rep. Norma Torres, D-Ontario and U.S. Senators Alex Padilla and Laphonza Butler, both Democrats

The requests must still be approved by Congress.
