An electrical construction company with offices throughout the United States has opened a location in Ontario.
New River Electrical Corp. held a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 13 at its office at 901 Via Piemonte, just north of the Toyota Arena, said John Vehmeier, company spokesman.
For now, John Askins, the company’s regional vice president for the western United States, will be the office’s lone employee. Others will be added depending on how much business the company generates.
New River Electrical has been looking to expand into Southern California for several years, according to Vehmeier.
“We want to get a foothold in that industrial market,” Vehmeier said. “Ontario is the perfect place for us.”
The Ontario office will cover California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and New Mexico.
Founded in 1953, New River Electrical employs about 2,000 people and is employee owned. It does electrical contractor work, in high-voltage construction and maintenance, for electrical and industrial customers, according to the company’s website.
