Menifee Mayor Ricky Estrada, a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves, has been called to six months of active duty overseas.
Mayor Pro Tem Bob Karwin will take over the city’s mayoral duties when Estrada’s deployment begins in October, according to a statement on Menifee’s website.
“During my deployment I will communicate with our city leadership and stay updated on local activities,” Estrada said in the statement. “Upon my return, I look forward to continuing all the great momentum our city has accomplished.”
Karwin praised Estrada’s return to service.
“Menifee stands united in our support for Mayor Estrada and his service to our country,” Darwin said in the statement. “Our city has a record of supporting our military service members, and we wish the mayor a safe and successful deployment.”
