Christopher Ramos has been named Beaumont’s chief of police.
A 24-year law enforcement veteran, Ramos began work as the department’s top administrator July 16, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Ramos was most recently a captain with the department and, before that, was its first administrative sergeant. He helped launch the department’s computer-aided dispatch and records management system, and he played a major role in securing grant funding for a multi-million-dollar regional radio communications upgrade.
“Beaumont looks forward to the continued progress and leadership of Chief Ramos as he serves the Beaumont Police Department and the community,” Mayor Mike Lara said in the statement.
The Beaumont Police Department serves more than 58,000 residents. It includes approximately 60 sworn officers, 33 professional staff, and 20 volunteers, according to the statement.
