FedEx announces Inland layoffs

FedEx is laying off 173 workers in Victorville, Palm Springs, and San Diego.

One facility in each of those cities will be shut down as part of a reorganization that was announced four years ago, according to multiple reports.

Sixty two workers at 1111 Bird Center Drive near Palm Springs International Airport, and 54 at 12212 Industrial Blvd. In Victorville, are expected to be let go at the end of September.  The San Diego layoffs are scheduled for later this month.

Last year, FedEx released 95 workers in Oakland and 79 workers in Emeryville.

The Southern California job cuts are part of a reorganization by the international air and ground shipping company that so far has led to the closing of 200 facilities. That number is expected to reach 475 by the end of 2027, according to the reports.
