Goodwill to reopen stores

Goodwill has refurbished,12 of its Southern California thrift stores, including three in the Inland Empire, and will reopen them this weekend.

The re-openings are scheduled to be held Sept. 12-15, according to a company statement.

The Inland stores are in Colton at 1330 E. Washington St., Corona at 1120 W. 6th St. and Upland at 1350 W. 7th St. The remaining stores are in Pomona, Glendale, Hollywood, Montebello, Santa Clarita, Santa Monica, Sherman Oaks, Stevenson Ranch, and Westchester.

“Most of the changes are cosmetic, not remodeling,” said Marla Eby, Goodwill spokeswoman, in a telephone interview. “The idea is to make the stores an easier and more pleasant place to shop.”

Improvements to the Inland stores cost $1.5 million and took one year to complete, Eby said.

Prizes will be offered all three days, including $10 gift certificates to the first 50 people in line, drawings for flat-screen TV’s, and free gifts with purchases of $20 or more while supplies last, according to the statement.
