Grocery Store Changes Hands

A Filipino/Asian market in Moreno Valley is under new ownership.

Manila Ranch Market, a combination market and restaurant that opened in 1996, has been bought by Virgilio De Guzman and his wife Cecille.

The sale became official in March, but the couple didn’t begin operating the business until Friday, Cecille said.

“My husband has run stores like this in Fontana and Riverside, so when this came up for sale we decided to buy it,” Cecille said of the popular establishment at 13373 Perris Blvd.

The couple, who have lived in Moreno Valley for 24 years, asked Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez to participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week to mark the change in ownership, which he agreed to do.

Manila Ranch Market was the first Filipino/Asian specialty store in Moreno Valley. It sells specialty food items, including produce and baking products, and also has a fish section, according to a statement.
