Gunterman takes over as Chaffey College athletic direct

Joel Gunterman is Chaffey College’s new athletic director.

Gunterman is in charge of Chaffey’s 14 intercollegiate teams, and the athletic department’s 21 coaches, faculty and staff, according to a statement released by the school on June 6.

Chaffey’s teams compete in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference, the South Coast Conference and the Southern California Football Association. More than 300 of its students compete in athletics.

Gunterman played professional soccer in the United Soccer League. He was an assistant volleyball coach for the women’s volleyball team at Valparaiso University in Indiana in 2018, and was interim athletic director there during the pandemic, according to the statement.
