Capt. Matt Henry has been named Murrieta’s police chief.
Henry will replace Chief Anthony Conrad, who is scheduled to retire later this year, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Henry, who has 24 years experience in law enforcement, started his career in 2000 with the San Diego Police Department. He moved to Murrieta in 2005, where he has been a patrol and SWAT officer, and has worked in internal affairs and administration.
He spent the last four years as a captain, managing the department’s operations and support divisions.
“Captain Henry has a wide range of law enforcement experience,” City Manager Kim Summers said in the statement. “He has shown his ability to manage and build relationships, not only within the department but at city hall as well.”
