Lauren Howland has been named San Bernardino County’s new public information officer.
Following a nationwide search, Howland was chosen to replace David Wert, who retired in June after 26 years with the county, according to a statement on the county’s website.
Howland was most recently Santa Monica’s public information manager. She has held similar positions in Anaheim and San Gabriel, and was a reporter with the Pasadena Star-News before entering government work.
Howland began working with the county August 31.
“Lauren brings a strong combination of local government and journalism experience, along with a deep understanding of the importance of clear, timely and transparent communication,” said Luther Snoke, the county’s chief executive officer, in the statement.
