Hu to be installed as UCR chancellor

Jack Hu will be made UC Riverside’s 10th chancellor Feb. 5.

Hu, who was appointed by the UC Board of Regents in May, will be inaugurated during a ceremony at the University Theatre which will include an academic procession and an address by Hu, according to a statement on the university’s website.

UC President James Milliken will conduct the installation.

“I look forward to sharing my vision, and celebrating alongside the students, faculty, staff, alumni, UC leaders, and community partners who make UC Riverside’s exceptional public impact possible,” Hu said in the statement.

Hu, who has been running the campus since July, replaced Kim Wilcox, who retired. Hu was most recently provost at the University of Georgia, a position he held for six years, according to the statement.
