Industrial project underway

Construction has begun on Columbia Business Park, a 1.4-million-square-foot in Riverside’s Hunter Industrial Park.

The speculative project, which is being developed by Trammell Crow Co., will consist of three buildings on 72 acres near the Hunter Park/UC Riverside Metrolink Station, according to a statement released Wednesday.

The first phase will consist of a one-million-square-foot distribution center, followed by two more distribution centers of 371,229 and 86,853 square feet. Besides being close to the Metrolink station, the site also has easy access to Interstates 10 and 215 and the 60 and 91 freeways.

A timeline for completion was not included in the statement.

The property is owned by Operating Engineers Pension Trust Local 12, which is based in Pasadena. Washington Capital Management in Hermosa Beach is advising the pension trust on how to develop the land and recommended Trammell Crow to be master developer, according to the statement.

Trammell Crow officials could not be reached for further comment.

Based in Dallas, Trammell Crow is one of the leading commercial real estate investment and development groups in the United States. As of last September, the company was working on nearly $11 billion worth of projects, either in process or planning, according to the statement.
