EZER, the Pomona-based company that employs private drivers to transport goods, showed its smartphone app yesterday and will again today at Apps World North America in Santa Clara.
By noon yesterday, more than 80 people had visited EZER’s booth in the section of the conference reserved for start-up businesses, said Glenn Todd, the company’s founder and chief executive officer.
“Some of them were potential investors, some of them were people who were just interested in learning about the app and our business,” Todd said. “Most of them spent about five minutes with us. It’s been a great turnout.”
Company officials also provided a multimedia presentation that detailed the EZER process, from pickup to delivery.
EZER, which launched Feb. 1, is modeled after UBER except it moves goods – generally large items like furniture – instead of people. It employs about 90 drivers, 30 of which are currently active, and the company has made between 350 and 400 deliveries during its three and a half months in business, Todd said.
“I would have to say I’m satisfied with the growth of the company so far,” said Todd, who said EZER simplified its smart phone app about one month after its launch, at the request of several clients. “You always hope for more, but I’m encouraged by where we’re headed.”
Like UBER, an EZER driver can only be summoned via the company’s smart phone app.
Besides meeting with would-be investors during the conference, EZER officials hope to connect with tech companies and marketing firms that might help it improve, Todd said.
