Apple Valley Walmart gets new look

Inland Walmart stores included in statewide upgrade

Walmart is remodeling 56 of its California stores, including eight in the Inland Empire.

The improvements will include better layouts, more advanced technology, and services that will reduce shopping and delivery times to less than an hour for most customers, according to a company statement.

“By modernizing our stores, we’re making everyday shopping more convenient and creating a more connected experience, while empowering our associates to better support the evolving needs of our customers,” said Jay Cordray, senior vice president of Walmart’s western U.S. business unit, in the statement.

The Inland stores slated for remodeling are:

  • Chino, 3943 Grand Ave.
  • Colton, 1120 S. Mount Vernon Ave.
  • Corona, 1560 W. 6th St.
  • Hemet, 1231 S. Sanderson Ave.
  • Indio, 4410 Jefferson St.
  • Rialto, 300 W. Base Line Rd.
  • Riverside, 5200 Van Buren Blvd.
  • Riverside, 6250 Valley Springs Pkwy.

Walmart has spent more than $1.1 billion remodeling California stores during the past five years. The company plans to upgrade more than 650 stores nationwide this year, according the statement.

  1. Some shoppers might wonder why Walmart is investing so heavily in remodeling stores instead of focusing on lowering costs. During a time when many families are still struggling with high prices, reducing everyday expenses may feel more urgent than upgrading store layouts or adding new technology.

  2. Walmart spends over 1 billion for unnecessary upgrades. At the same time, most of those mentioned associates that are being “empowered” have been getting their hours cut every week. Some FULL TIME employees have seen schedules less than 22 hours a week. Yea. “Empowered indeed”.
