JetBlue to repeat Palm Springs to New York flights

For the second consecutive year, JetBlue Airways will be provide non-stop flights to New York from Palm Springs International Airport.

Beginning Friday, the discount airline will offer flights Monday through Thursday to John F. Kennedy International Airport, said Tom Nolan, the airport’s executive director.

On Dec. 15, those flights will be expanded to almost daily service. They will last until May 2, when the winter vacation season in the Coachella Valley unofficially winds down.

“Having flights to New York is a major asset for us,” said Nolan, called Palm Springs International a “seasonal” operation. “As competitive as the airline industry is today – just about everyone is bidding for these flights – we think it’s impressive that [JetBlue] wants to keep flying out of here.”

Flights will leave Palm Springs International at 10 p.m. and arrive in New York at 6 a.m. local time. Return flights will leave New York at 6 p.m. and arrive in Palm Springs at 9 p.m. local time.

JetBlue provided a similar service to JFK International between January and May.

Palm Springs International is near downtown Palm Springs. It accommodates approximately 1.5 million passengers annually, according to the airport’s website.
