Karst named chief financial officer

Darren Karst has been named chief financial officer of Ontario-based Heritage Grocers Group, the parent company of Cardenas Markets.

Karst will oversee all financial and accounting matters and report to Doug Sanders, Heritage Grocers’ chief executive officer, according to a statement released today

“I am excited to welcome Darren to Heritage Grocers Group,” Sanders said in the statement. “He is a proven and seasoned leader [with] extensive retail experience.:”

Before joining Heritage Grocers, Karst was executive vice president and chief financial officer for Rite Aid Corp. He was also executive vice president and chief financial officer for Roundy’s Inc, a Milwaukee-based supermarket chain, according to the statement.
